Quick Financial Impact Analysis of the UFC in Toronto
by Katie Sutherland

The following is a quick low end estimate of what the Ontario Government
and the local economy would earn
based on
only one night of a UFC event in Toronto:

(1)
Air Canada Centre: 18,800 capacity for a hockey game (would be more with floor seating).  18,800 people
paying $1
00 per ticket on average = $1,880,000.00.  8% PST = $150,400 Taxes.

(2) Hotels
: assuming $150 for downtown Toronto.  Assuming a rough estimate of 2,000 people requiring
hotel rooms, $150 x 2,000 = $300,000.  8% PST x $150 x 2,000 hotel rooms = $24,000 Taxes.

(3) TTC
: based on one night, two way travel assuming 10,000 people using public transit (without a pre-
purchased metro pass).  $5.50 round trip x 10,000 = $55,000.

(4) Merchandising
: assuming each person spends $5 =  $94,000.  8% PST = 7,520

(5) Drinks: assuming each person spends $10  = $188,000.  8% PST = $15,040

(6) Food: assuming each person spends $5 = $94,000.  8% PST = $7,520

(7) Ontario Athletic Commission's live gate percentage can range from 2% to 5%.  The Quebec Athletic
Commission has been reported to have received between $120,000 and $150,000.  Therefore, we'll assume
$135,000.

Total Economic Revenue: $2,476,000
Total Ontario Government Revenue: $339,480
